  • ACLGIM and Women's Caucus Partnership

We are excited to announce a partnership between the SGIM Women’s Caucus and the Association of Chiefs and Leaders of General Internal Medicine (ACLGIM)!

As the mission of the Women’s Caucus is to focus on mentorship, sponsorship and networking to promote career advancement and leadership in medicine, we would like to thank all current Women’s Caucus members who align with this mission.

For all current members who volunteer this year to be a CAP Sponsor or a LEAD Coach, ACLGIM would like to offer one year of complimentary membership*!

If you are interested in participating this year, please see below for more information on joining CAP or LEAD.  And please join us in Boston as we can continue to brainstorm more ways to support women in leadership!

Women and Medicine Commission’s Career Advising Program

A coach talks to you, a mentor talks with you, and a sponsor talks about you.

The Women & Medicine Commission’s Career Advising Program (CAP) is a longitudinal sponsorship initiative to help junior and mid-career women faculty successfully navigate academic advancement opportunities by connecting these members with senior “Career Sponsors” throughout SGIM (i.e., Associate or Full Professors). Sponsoring activities focus on CV preparation, targeted committee membership, and strategies for relationship-building for career advancement.

Click HERE for more information and to apply to be a Sponsor by March 20, 2023.

    ACLGIM LEAD Program

The ACLGIM LEAD program is designed for junior to mid-career faculty who wish to develop their leadership skills further. Participants of this program will learn from training and coaching from leadership scholars and successful GIM leaders, independent reading/assignments with online discussions, and regularly scheduled direct communication with an ACLGIM LEAD coach during the 12 months following the program's start.  Participants in LEAD will be matched with a coach who shares similar research interests and/or institution/division type.

Coach commitment includes one meeting/month (approx. 30 minutes) to discuss challenges and strategies relevant to the scholar’s leadership role at their home institution. The exchange can be by phone, video conference, or whatever mechanism is mutually agreed upon by the mentor-mentee pair.

We will begin matching participants with coaches in late February 2024, and we will reach out with a formal invitation should you be matched with a compatible participant.

Click HERE to volunteer as a coach for a participant in the 2024-2025 LEAD Cohort.

*Membership is offered to first-time ACLGIM members only.
