Bio

Dr. Conigliaro is Chief of the Division General Internal Medicine and Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of Medicine at Northwell Health formerly the North Shore-LIJ Health System and Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He obtained his medical degree at Harvard Medical School, completed his residency in Primary Care Internal Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Jacobi Medical Center, and his MPH from the University of Pittsburgh. Previously he was Faculty in Medicine and Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh from 1993 to 2005, and Tenured Professor of Medicine & Health Services Management at the University of Kentucky from 2005 to 2010. Prior to coming to Northwell, He was Director of Practice Based Research and Professor of Medicine at NYU and the NYU-HHC CTSI, where he advanced the development of practice-based research bridging NYU and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC). Prior to joining NYU, he was Director of the Center for Enterprise Quality and Safety and the Center for Biomedical Informatics and founded and directed the VA-funded Lexington VA Patient Safety Fellowship. He was also Chief of the Implementation Core for the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion at the Pittsburgh VA and the University of Pittsburgh and Associate Co-Director for Research for the VISN4 Mental Illness, Research, Education, and Clinical Center at the Pittsburgh VA. His research has centered primarily on the evaluation of provider behavior change, brief interventions to reduce hazardous drinking using computer interfaces, health care disparities, and implementation of best practices. He has been extensively funded by the VA, NIH, HRSA, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and other agencies.
