How do I submit a proposal for the Annual Meeting?

All submissions must be entered into the ScholarOne® submission management system at https://sgim2018.abstractcentral.com/login

No; however, meeting registration fees are higher for non-members.

How do I register for the meeting?

You can register for the meeting by visiting the Annual Meeting website. Register online to pre-register for specific sessions.

December 14, 2017: Early Registration Opens

April 1, 2017: SGIM Associate Member Group Registration Deadline
March 8, 2018: Standard Registration Deadline

What does the cost of my registration include?

You will receive a name badge, and program  when you arrive on site. Your name badge gives you access to attend all the plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, and interest group meetings.

Included with Registration

  • SGIM18 Mobile App: Access content before, during and after the meeting. Read about 200+ educational sessions and plan your itinerary. Download session handouts and connect with colleagues on the SGIM18 Mobile App. 
  • SGIM18 Online Conference Library: Learning doesn’t end in Denver!  Missed a session at SGIM18? Attendees will be able to access over 30 authorized, recorded conference sessions from SGIM18.
  • Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Points: Earn up to 16.5 MOC points.
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credits: Earn up to 16.5 AMA PRA Category 1 credits™.
  • Thursday and Friday: Continental breakfast, morning beverage break and box lunch
  • Saturday: Seated breakfast

Do I need to register if I’m presenting or only attending one day?

There is no one-day registration. SGIM requires everyone, both those presenting and those not presenting, to register and pay the registration fees set by the SGIM Council. The SGIM Annual Meeting is put on without commercial funding. This is in keeping with the expressed wishes of our membership.


Can I cancel my registration?

Yes. All cancellation requests must be made in writing to SGIM and received by March 29, 2018. Any refunds, based on the refund schedule below, will be issued following SGIM18 by June 30, 2018. SGIM is not responsible for cancellations not received. Email registration@sgim.org with your registration confirmation number.

Cancellation Refund Schedule
February 15, 2018: Last day for full registration fee refund, less $75 cancellation fee (Early Registration Deadline)
February 16–March 8, 2018: Fifty percent registration fee refund (Standard Registration Deadline)
March 9–March 29, 2018: Twenty-five percent registration fee refund (Onsite Registration Deadline)
After March 30, 2018: No refunds will be issued.


Are there any meals included with my registration?

SGIM provides the following meals:

  • Thursday and Friday: continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon beverage break
  • Saturday: seated breakfast

Meal tickets for non-registered friends or family may be purchased from the registration desk.

Special Meal Requests are only available to those who requested them during pre-registration. Those registering on-site do not have the option of special meal requests.

On Wednesday

  • ACLGIM Dinner
  • Quality Improvement Skills for Reliable Care Course
  • GIM Fellows Symposium
  • AMIA Pre-Course

Note: The TEACH, LEAD and LEAHP courses on Wednesday are part of certificate programs with a separate application process. TEACH and LEAD workshops on Thursday through Saturday are open to all meeting attendees.

Meeting Organization and Scheduling

Can I see what sessions will be presented before I arrive on site?

Yes. The program for the Annual Meeting is posted online as soon as it is finalized.
You can also download our mobile app to view the sessions that will be presented, once available.

How can I find out when someone is scheduled to present?

You have several options:

  • Search for presenters by typing in their last name on the SGIM Annual Meeting App, once available.
  • Search for poster presenters by typing in their last name in the Posters Module of the SGIM Annual Meeting App, once available.
  • Check the Final Program in your registration packet at the meeting.

Are Annual Meeting presentations published anywhere?

All abstracts, vignettes and innovations accepted for either oral or poster presentation at the annual meeting are published in a supplement to the Journal of General Internal Medicine. This is an electronic publication only.
