SGIM VA-Affiliate Members:

The 2015 meeting is in Toronto, ON CA, April 22-25, 2015.

1) ACEs registration is now open for the meeting for VA attendees. The closing date is December 1, 2014.

2) The additional wrinkle for this meeting is that because it is in Canada, you also have to apply simultaneously for a Government passport, which is a separate process from getting approval through ACES. The website suggests a minimum of 60 days to get the passport. Make sure you discuss the process with your Education/Travel office if you have never traveled on a government passport before.

Please note: If you are traveling on University, Non Profit Corporation or Personal funds, you do not have to request approval through the ACES system. The ACES system is only for trips funded with VA appropriated dollars.

Please visit the VA Task Force websitefor the most up to date information about VA travel to the 2015 SGIM Annual meeting.

Join SGIM for "Virtual Hill Day" to Advocate for SGR Repeal and Payment Reform

The SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act, currently before Congress, represents the first bipartisan, bicameral legislation to repeal the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula that reimburses physicians based on volume, not the quality of care they provide.

The SGIM-sponsored National Commission on Physician Payment Reform (http://physicianpaymentcommission.org/) has re-issued theirreport today, providing a framework for repeal and many of the report's additional recommendations are included in the legislation.SGIM leaders will be joined by leadership from the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians for a briefing today on Capitol Hill to address whyCongress needs to act this year and resolve this issue once and for all.

Click here to read the press release on the event.

Send a Letter to Congress!!:In light of the report's re-issuance, SGIM is mobilizing its membership to support the recommendations.
