The 2013 SGIM Award nominations and Grant applications period will be closing soon.

 

Please visit the SGIM Awards and Grants website for details about honoring a colleague, or submitting an application for recognition, or funding of your own work!

 

Awardees will be acknowledged at the 2013 SGIM Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado.

The Robert J. Glaser Award

Outstanding contributions to research, education, or both in generalism in medicine

Elnora M. Rhodes SGIM Service Award

Outstanding service to SGIM and its mission of promoting patient care, research, and education in primary care medicine

Herbert W. Nickens Award

Outstanding achievements in promoting minority health and minority representation in medicine

John M Eisenberg Award for Career Achievement in Research

An individual whose lifetime research contributions have had a national impact

David R. Calkins Award

Outstanding commitment to Health Policy advocacy on behalf of SGIM

ACLGIM Chief's Recognition Award

GIM Division Chief who most represents excellence in Division leadership

ACLGIM Leadership Award

Skills in leadership in areas of academic medicine, including clinical, educational, research or administrative efforts

Career Achievement in Medical Education

Outstanding clinician-educator whose lifetime contributions have profoundly advanced, and had widespread impact on the art and science of medicine and medical education

Outstanding Junior Investigator of the Year

Junior investigator's career achievement in research

Mid-Career Research Mentorship Award

Mentoring activities of general medicine investigators

Mid-Career Education Mentorship Award

Mentoring activities of general medicine educators

Best Published Research Paper of the Year

Given to an individual for the best published research paper of the year

Scholarship in Medical Education

Brings attention to the many types of original work that SGIM members have performed to improve medical education

Quality and Practice Innovation Award

General internists and their organization that have successfully developed and implemented innovative role model systems of practice improvement in ambulatory and/or inpatient clinical practice

 

2013 Grants Summary 

Lawrence S. Linn Award

Grants to up to three young investigators to study or improve the quality of life for persons with AIS or HIV infection

Mary O'Flaherty Horn Award

Outstanding clinician educator dedicated to patient care, education and caring for the underserved and who chooses to work part-time

Founders Grant

Up to $20,000 annually toward research support by a junior investigator
