National Clinician Scholars Program (NCSP)



The four current sites of the RWJF Clinical Scholars program have joined together to form a consortium and launch the National Clinician Scholars Program (NCSP). This program fills the gap left after the RWJF CSP program closure and will expand on the RWJF program by including nurse scientists in addition to physicians to address new and emerging issues related to health care delivery and improving the health of communities.

New Grants Available From ABIM Foundation to Advance Stewardship Competencies in Medical Education and Training

 

ABIM Foundation has announced a grant program to foster innovations and new approaches to integrating stewardship competencies and better decision making in medical education and training.

 

The "Putting Stewardship into Medical Education and Training" grant program will award up to six grants of $25,000 each to clinical training programs in medicine/surgery, nursing and other allied health professions. The goal of the grants is to expand existing training program initiatives or launch new ones designed to reduce the overuse of certain tests or procedures.

In addition to their projects, grantees will also participate in an existinglearning networkcreated by Costs of Care and the ABIM Foundation to share ideas and collaborate in the development of learning strategies in medical education and training.

 

The new grant program complements the recentTeaching Value and Choosing Wisely Challenge, which recognizes innovative efforts by medical students, residents and faculty to promote stewardship. Thefull RFPis available on the ABIM Foundation's website. Grant applications are due by May 18, 2015.

SGIM Communications Committee Start Up


Interested in helping developing the strategic communications direction of SGIM?The newly-formed communications committee is looking for 8 members to meet quarterly and plan how SGIM should communicate externally to the public and internally to members.This committee will focus on developing policy for GIM Connect, the SGIM website, and social media, among other collaterals.This is not a nitty-gritty tech committee-no web experience is required; rather, we are looking for higher level thinkers who can plan at the 42,000 ft level and look at communications needs across the Society.


Of the 8 members needed for the committee, one slot is specifically reserved for an ACLGIM member, one is specifically reserved for an Associate member, and the rest are at-large positions.Time frame is a two/three year appointment with quarterly calls.The committee will meet in person at the SGIM Annual Meeting in Toronto on Thursday, April 23 from 12:30pm-1:30pm.
