Hi All - thanks everyone for a great interest group last week in Denver! Lots of great discussion and ideas for collaboration going forward! I want to try to keep this group as active as possible for the upcoming year to foster ideas/collaboration/advocacy!
A bit of a recap from our meeting (from what I can remember): We discussed a few important topics:
- Determining/studying the value of providing HIV in the context of primary care. People highlighted data with regard to virologic outcomes, but appears there is a gap with regard to quality and satisfaction outcomes.
2. A robust discussion of PrEP and reducing barriers to prep through many interventions. We highlighted funds available through the CDC that may help support programming and outreach efforts.
3. A general consensus from the group that we need to continue to advocate and support the LGBTQ community as we witness overt discriminatory legislation being passed in many states throughout the country. Many in the group are planning op-eds in their local media. If there are any efforts we can work on collectively as a group, please chime in.
4. We discussed next year's meeting and the consensus was that an update or workshop with regard to STI prevention may be of utility involving PrEP/injectables, Doxy PEP, and Mpox may be of benefit. We can discuss more in the fall when the call for proposals comes out.
Se ya in Denver next year
