Hi all,
The Technical Assistance Center for the Rural Residency Planning & Development and Teaching Health Center Planning & Development grant programs through HRSA provides technical assistance for start-up of rural and community health center-based residency programs.
We have been curating a collection of tools to support residency program development across the variety of specialties being funded by these HRSA grants, and are reaching out to ask for your help in identifying additional tools that you think might be useful for peer programs just getting started.
For reference, the toolboxes can be found in the “portal” at the top right of the main https://www.ruralgme.org/ and https://www.thcgme.org/ websites – and anyone can create an account to access them!
Some examples of tools that we have for some specialties and that would be helpful to round out our toolbox for all specialties include:
- Sample block diagrams
- Sample curricular structures
- Sample physical layouts of clinics, eg floorplans (if clinical flow is helpful)
- Sample timelines/ annual calendars for program deadlines/planning
- Sample required policies (e.g. duty hours, oversight and supervision, etc.)
- Sample job descriptions for program coordinator/ institutional coordinator/etc
- Sample evaluation forms
- Any resources from specialty societies that are a “must know”
- Anything else you can think of that was useful for you or your peers!
If you have any ideas or any of these resources and are willing to share, we would be very grateful! We will give full attribution for any sample/example type of tools.
Please send anything you can think of to Amanda Weidner, aweidner@uw.edu cc’d here.
Thank you for your help with this effort to grow our training in rural and underserved communities!
