Hi, We had a productive session at SGIM . Here is a summary of our meeting. We brainstormed ideas for workshops for the 2017 meeting. These included the following: Developing an ethics curriculum for residents Creating a 5 point case analysis that can be incorporated into rounds or morning report....capacity, conflict, consent, culture, and vulnerable populations Linguistics in medicine or strategic euphonisms And the last two with which we decided to proceed..... Physician assisted death--incorporating how to define your own position, how to respond to a patients request, how it is approached in states where it is legal and where it is not, and the ethics involved. Dan, Stephanie, Kyle, and Lisa will work on this . Surrogates who are impaired---will not decide, have cognitive impairment, have psychological impairment. Stephanie, Laura,Mark, and Kyle will work on this one. I will send a group email in a month or so to urge us to get to work as submissions are due in early autumn.
