Dear Academic Hospitalist Interest Group Members,
It was great seeing so many of you at the National SGIM meeting in San Diego. At the interest group session, many of you voiced concerns and hopes for your careers and practice groups. As I listened to the comments, I remembered having many of the same questions when my group was just getting off the ground 10 years ago and then again when the group recently quadrupled in size. There is a wealth of knowledge and sage advice among the AHIG members, who have been through similar stages of their career and from those with fresh new eyes and perspectives.
Over the upcoming year, I hope to help facilitate discussion via SGIM Connect on the topics of greatest concern to its members, including being academically successful, mentorship, research/QI, finding collaborators, getting promoted, funding, etc.
Stay tuned for upcoming questions for discussion!
