The Anticoagulation-Thromboembolism interest group was founded in 1988 by Rich White, MD as a way to connect SGIM members who have clinical or research interest in this topic. In 2013, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary we are moving to SGIM community. All members of SGIM are invited to join and we look forward to meeting old friends and new members at the next annual meeting. In between meetings, we look forward at leveraging the new Connect functionality to discuss clinical quandaries, share new research findings and educational opportunities.

Many SGIM members are actively engaged in cancer related research in the areas of prevention, screening, diagnosis and survivorship. This interest group provides an opportunity for members to meet others with interests in cancer related research, exchange ideas for proposals, discuss potential funding sources, form research collaborations and identify mentors.
A forum to promote the exchange of ideas among SGIM members interested in the role of informatics in clinical care, education, and research
The Cross-Cultural Communication and Medical Care Interest Group is intended to serve as a clearinghouse, a space for inter-institutional collaboration, and a forum to promote collegiality for those doing work in a variety of areas. These include (but are not limited to) curriculum development, research, and evaluation in areas of cultural aspects of communication, working with interpreters, and related areas of the medical encounter. We invite all interested SGIM members to join our work and contribute to the improvement of educational interventions, services, and standards in Cross-Cultural/Culturally sensitive care.
SGIM members are invited to: (1) share their experiences of how culturally sensitive care in both individual patient interactions and dedicated programs/resources have impacted patient care; (2) discuss what initiatives are being undertaken at their institutions that exemplify culturally sensitive care. The goal is to start sharing the experiences and initiatives in the forum, and then meet formally to discuss at the SGIM annual meeting.
