GIM Fellows Symposium

GIM Fellows Pre-Course

Wednesday, May 15
11:00 am – 5:30 pm

General Internal Medicine (GIM) fellowships train future leaders in clinical investigation, clinical education, health policy, government and public health. Despite the presence of fellowships across the country, there are few structured opportunities for GIM fellows to network with one another and meet leaders from institutions across the United States. The SGIM Research Committee would like to take advantage of the 2024 SGIM Annual Meeting to revive the GIM Fellows Pre-Course to exchange ideas, receive feedback on their work, and network with faculty and fellows. In addition to a plenary talk and discussion of the first-ever SGIM Fellowship Survey and panel discussions with GIM Chiefs, and former fellows, there will be breakout sessions during this interactive workshop. Topics include: How to build local peer and mentorship teams, building national communities, applying and negotiating for a first academic job, optimizing the transition from fellow to faculty, engaging in team science, and becoming involved in reviewing and editing. The session will conclude with a discussion of how SGIM can best support/connect attendees moving forward and will be followed by a reception for networking.

$25 registration fee. This is an add-on to regular meeting registration.
