I am Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. In addition, I am involved in health care reform strategy development and the business aspects of medicine. As the Chair of the University Hospital Patient Experience Committee, I work towards improving HCAHPS scores and the patient experience in general. Half of my time is spent practicing general internal medicine with a focus on osteoporosis, women's health and the care of medically complex patients. I also direct an undergraduate geriatric internship to expose students to the field of geriatrics by training them to assist with the completion of the Annual Medicare Wellness visit. In addition, I teach a course for the lay public on how to navigate our extremely complex American medical system.
