Bio

Martina Jelley, MD, MSPH, MACP,  is a Professor and Vice Chair for Research, Department of Internal Medicine, Julian Rothbaum Chair in Community Health Research, University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine. Along with seeing patients and teaching residents in clinical care, Dr. Jelley works with a multidisciplinary team at OU to develop, test, and evaluate the Professional ACEs-Informed Training for Health (PATH) model, a simulation training to help trainees across medicine, nursing, allied health, and social work programs improve their skills in counseling and caring for adult patients with childhood trauma. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Academy on Violence and Abuse, the Society of General Internal Medicine’s Physicians Addressing Violence Interest Group, and a member and previous chair of the Oklahoma Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board.  Dr. Jelley is also a founder and Steering Committee member of Trauma Informed Health Care Education and Research Collaborative (TIHCER), co-host of the TIHCER monthly webinar series, and co-guest editor of The Permanente Journal special section on “Innovations in Trauma Informed Health Care”.  Dr. Jelley is leading the integration of TIC into the undergraduate medical curriculum at the University of Oklahoma and this work has been partially funded via an HRSA grant focused on training students to care for tribal, rural, and underserved patients in Oklahoma. She has presented nationally on TIC education to the Society of General Internal Medicine, Association of American Medical Colleges, Academy on Violence and Abuse, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and Futures Without Violence.
