Dr. Johnston is a board certified internist and primary care physician. She sees outpatients and precepts residents at West Penn Medical Associates where she serves as a teaching attending at West Penn Hospital. Dr. Johnston is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Erie to pursue her medical education at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Johnston returned to Pittsburgh for her Internal Medicine residency training at Allegheny Health Network. She served as a Chief Resident with emphasis on Quality Improvement and Patient Safety and Resident Wellness. She serves as Associate Program Director for the IM Residency Program, the faculty mentor for the IM Resident Wellness and Experience Committee, and co-directs the Clinician Educator Track. Dr. Johnston’s academic interests include primary care education, inpatient medicine, physician wellness, and patient safety and quality improvement in the clinical setting.
