Hi everyone! Welcome to our new interest group!
My name is Mona–I am a first-year internal medicine resident from Tokyo currently training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Rahman and I are excited to share and hear from all of you about general experiences, challenges faced, and initiatives people have taken to provide culturally sensitive care for their patients. The more I meet patients from various cultural, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic, and health literacy backgrounds throughout residency, the more I realize how important it is to tailor our plans to patients' backgrounds and lifestyles. I'm looking forward to this chance for all of us to learn more from each other.
Please feel free to contribute to this discussion thread with personal experiences, questions, or any information you'd like to share with the group.
For those of you will be attending SGIM 2026, we'll also have an in-person session for further discussion. Our group is open to all! Please spread the word if you think someone might be interested!
